Your union travel insurance policy covers you if you get sick or have an accident while overseas and you're covered for lost baggage claims. Ambulance Cover:
- *There’s free ambulance cover for members and their immediate family- Including Air Ambulance cover for up to $10,000.
Journey Cover:
- *Free journey cover if injured on your way to and from work. Your wages can be covered for up to two years. If you die or suffer a permanent disability there’s cover up to $100,000.
Funeral Cover:
- *Free funeral cover up to $10,000 for members and in the event a spouse or your child dies, $7,500 can go to help cover funeral expenses. There's also coverage of $7,500 to cover the death of a dependent child up to 18 years or 24 years if a full time student.
- NEW addition to Funeral cover: Members who lose their spouse resulting from death will be able to apply for either pre-school or after school care for a maximum of 2 years. Infants under the age of 4, the benefit will be a maximum of $13,000 per dependent child. For children older than 4 and up to 13, the benefit will be a maximum of $5,200 per dependent child. Cover and benefits cease once a child turns 14.
It means that if workers suffer the loss of a spouse they can eventually get back to their job with some extra help and less worry about in looking after their children. So, more than it ever, it pays to be a member of the CFMEU.

Free Will:
- Free Wills service. A free standard will for members and their spouse and reduced rates for complex wills.
Training Discounts:
- Discounts on all courses offered by the Construction Skills Training Centre- FREE Bluecard induction course if you are a financial union member.
Hearing Test:
- We work in a noisy industry. You are entitled to receive a hearing test to establish your audio levels in case you ever need to make a claim for loss of hearing. This test can be paid by your employer. The tests are carried out under expert supervision at the Construction Skills Training Centre in Welshpool. Ask your employer for details or call the union office on (08) 9221 1055.
Eye Glasses:
- Free glasses – CFMEU members of HBF, HIF, GEHF or Medibank Private can obtain free eye glasses. If you are not a member of these funds you can still get a 20% discount through WA Opticians. Some conditions can apply.

If you are a CFMEU member, you don’t have to do all the leg work, let your fingers do the walking. We have comprehensive lists available of current sites and contractors operating in the;
